Prenuptial Agreements

A prenuptial agreement, otherwise known as an ante-nuptial or premarital agreement, or “prenup”, is a contract parties would enter into prior to marriage. Parties typically enter into prenuptial agreements to make provision for the division of property and/or support in the event of a divorce or for the handling of assets in the event of a death.

While not necessarily as effective for memorializing terms for alimony or its waiver, it can be an effective legal instrument for protecting and accounting for the property and estate interests of the parties during the course of the marriage.
